FARMER CITY - Emmett L. "Ted" Schield, 85, Farmer City, died at 4:23 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 22, 2006) at Jackson Heights Nursing Home, Farmer City.
Due to Ted's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home in Farmer City is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Nov. 4, 1920, in Naperville. He was the son of Wesley David and Beryl Wilkinson Schield. He married Cleo L. "Snooks" Stagen on Dec. 2, 1951, in Farmer City. She preceded him in death Oct. 11, 2000.
He is survived by one son, Wes (Carol) Schield, Bellflower; one daughter, Kathy Patterson, Fredericksburg, Va.; and two grandchildren, Jessi and Tommy Schield, both of Bellflower.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Schield.
He came to Farmer City in 1950. He was a co-founder of K&S Furniture and opened The Side Pocket pool hall. Ted worked as a union laborer for Laborers International Union North American Local 703 in Urbana until his retirement.
He was a member of the Joe Williams Post 55 American Legion in Farmer City.
Ted loved spending time on the golf course on Thursdays with Bob, Tom and Dean.
Memorials may be made in the form of prayers and memories.
