EL PASO - Eugene F. Short, 54, of 15 S. Commercial, El Paso, passed away at 10:15 a.m. Thursday (Nov. 16, 2006) at 3900 S. Morgan St., Chicago.
Service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso. The Rev. Wes Ooms will officiate. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home prior to service.
Gene was born Jan. 19, 1952, in Pontiac, to Sylvester and Ida Kratovcil Short. He married Mary Kay Tucker. He later married Joan Newkirk in Pontiac. She passed away on May 14, 1994, her children and grandchildren survive. He then married Carol J. Baker on June 10, 1995, in Secor, she survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Laurie (Kenny) Powell of Roanoke; three sisters, Rosella Rink of Eureka; Dorothy (Frank) Ellis of Tallahassee, Fla.; and Sally (Randy) Claunch of Cambria; three brothers, Bradley Short of Ohio; Jerry (Loretta) Short of Chatsworth; and Robert (Karen) Short of Secor; three stepchildren, Lisa (Rick) Heller and Chad Baker, both of El Paso; and Cindy (Jon) Wilson of Gridley; mother-in-law, Flossie Whitaker of El Paso; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
Eugene was a truck driver for RJR Transportation in El Paso. He enjoyed camping at Hickory Hills Campground and was an avid Cubs fan.
