BLOOMINGTON - Flora S. Marshall, 35, Bloomington, died Tuesday (Dec. 27, 2005) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington.
A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Joy Full Gospel Community Church, 411 E. Mulberry St., Bloomington, with Pastor John Brown officiating. A funeral will be at noon Thursday at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Ferriday, La. Burial will be at Garden of Rest Cemetery, Clayton, La. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Marshall Children's Fund at Busey Bank, Bloomington.
Flora was born Aug. 10, 1970, in New Orleans, La., the daughter of Laverne and Flora Hawkins Parker. She was raised in Ferriday, La., and attended Grambling State University and graduated from Ferriday High School.
She was a member of Joy Full Gospel Community Church, Bloomington. Flora was employed by Unit 5 and District 87 as a teacher's aide.
Flora leaves to cherish her memory five children, Sarah, 16; Rochelle, 15; Chelsea, 11; Okolo, 10; and Akeanaton, 9; all of Bloomington; mother, Flora Hawkins, Ferriday, La.; four sisters, Tabitha, Marilyn, Natasha and Coretta, all of Ferriday, La.; three brothers, Bruce, Derrick and Kevin, all of Ferriday, La., three uncles, Will (Gwen) Parker of Tennesee, Earl (Jackie) Parker of Alaska, and Lester Parker of Texas; three aunts, Audrey (James) Poole and Marilyn Hawkins, both of Ferriday, La.; and a devoted aunt and uncle, John and Beulah Brown of Bloomington; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives.
She was preceded in death by her father, Laverne Parker.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the entire staff of OSF St. Joseph Medical Center for their care and support, and also to both District 87 and Unit 5 staff and administration.
