CULLOM — Francis W. Koerner, 85, of Cullom, died at 9 a.m. Friday (Jan. 2, 2015) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Cullom, with the Rev. Rebecca Klemm of Cullom United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in West Lawn Cemetery, Cullom. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of service at the funeral home. Memorials in Francis’ name may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Francis was born Dec. 10, 1929, in Cullom, a son of Reuben and Olive Hirstein Koerner. He married Sandra Jones on Nov. 24, 1957, in Pontiac. She survives in Cullom.
Also surviving are three sons, Darrell (Jessie) Koerner, Boulder, Colo.; Kenneth (Rebecca) Koerner, Sterling; and Kevin (Stacy) Koerner, Bradley; one daughter, Diane (Jim) Frey, Joliet; eight grandchildren, Beth (Bo) Adeoti, Jackie (Matt) Navas, Gehrig, Elle, Grant, Phillip, Ryan and Julia Koerner; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Adeoti; and one uncle, Dale Hirstein, Cullom.
Francis was preceded in death by one granddaughter and two brothers, Dewey and Ron Koerner.
Francis was educated in Scott and Kempton schools. He was a carpenter, painter and had been a custodian at Tri-Point High School. He was a member of Cullom United Methodist Church.
