NORMAL - Freda L. Plotner, 90, of 1200 E. College Ave. Normal, died at 12:32 a.m. Friday (Feb. 3, 2006) at ManorCare Health Services, Normal.
A funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the memorial home. Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
She was born July 24, 1915, in McLean, a daughter of Henry C. and Stella B. Riddle Hisle. She married Glen E. Plotner on Jan. 7, 1933, in Bloomington. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Glen L. Plotner, Bloomington; one daughter, Ina (George) Bradford, Normal; four grandchildren, Brian E. Plotner, Sam Danenberger, Shelly J. Plotner and Adam Danenberger; one great-grandson, Brian E. Plotner II; two sisters, Henrietta Williams and Joan (Howard) Kaufman, both of Bloomington; four stepgrandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and lifelong special friend, Margaret Riddle, Bloomington..
She was preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, four sisters and two brothers.
She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomington, where she and her husband were the longest married couple at the church, having been married for more than 73 years.
Mrs. Plotner and her husband, Glen, previously managed Streid's Motel at Morrissey and Veterans Parkway in Bloomington. She later worked for State Farm Insurance Cos., for 15 years prior to retirement. Mrs. Plotner was active on and a past president of the resident council at Phoenix Towers in Bloomington.
She was also known as a champion pie baker. Freda was a caring person who never met a stranger and was willing to give a helping hand to anyone. She was dearly loved by everyone who had the good fortune to have known her.
