EAST PEORIA - Gary L. Prather, 54, Pocahontas, Ark., formerly of East Peoria, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 21, 2006) at St. Bernard's Medical Center, Jonesboro, Ark.

His funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Quiram Funeral Home, Atlanta. Burial will be in Atlanta Cemetery, with military rites conducted by Gresham-Crutchley American Legion Post 341 of Atlanta. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

He was born July 9, 1951, in Bloomington, the son of Everett J. and Minnie L. Miller Prather.

Surviving are seven children, Melissa (Greg) Dean, Danvers; Amy Prather, Bloomington; Kevin Prather, Creve Coeur; Jeremy Prather, East Peoria; Lisa Prather, Normal; John Prather, East Peoria; and Joseph Prather, Danvers; seven grandchildren; brothers and sisters, include, Don (Pat) Prather, East Peoria; Carolyn (Roger) Marten, Lincoln; Sharon (Jim) Applegate, Atlanta; Randy (Karen) Prather, Springfield; Marvin (Alice) Prather, Creve Coeur; Connie (Dexter) Sheff, Panama City, Fla.; and Rick (Brenda) Prather, McLean; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

Mr. Prather was employed at Caterpillar Tractor Co., East Peoria, retiring in 2003. He was a member of UAW Local 974.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Midwest Affiliate, Peoria.
