EL PASO - Gary A. Wilson, 51, of 2245 Watson Loop Road, Pikeville, Tenn., formerly of Normal, passed away at 9:39 p.m. Friday (June 22, 2007) at his home, surrounded by loved ones.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the memorial service. According to Gary's wishes, his family suggests attire to be casual. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
He was born Feb. 11, 1956, in Normal, the son of Albert E. and Betty Newkirk Wilson. He is survived by his wife, Elsie Wilson, Pikeville, Tenn.; his father, Albert E. Wilson, Normal; one son, John (Shannon) Wilson, Mahomet; one daughter, Stacy Wilson, El Paso; and one sister, Janice (Ken) Crosiar, Duluth, Ga.
Other survivors include two half-brothers, Bob Rinkenberger of Antioch and Dennis Rinkenberger (MaryAnn) of Champaign; two stepdaughters, Melissa B. Foster (Michael) of Deltona, Fla., and Laura B. (Curtis) Rethwisch of Beverton, Ore.; and two step-grandchildren, Amber Czerock of Deltona, Fla., and Austin Berry of Beverton, Ore.
His mother, Betty M. Wilson, and one sister, Connie J. Wilson, preceded him in death.
Gary was a 1974 graduate of El Paso High School. He was a longtime dedicated employee of Schneider National Trucking. He was a devoted husband and father. He was known for his wit and humor, as well as his love of NASCAR and bird watching. His family and friends will sadly miss him.
