PEORIA — Genevieve Ann Henrichs of Peoria died at 5:55 a.m. Saturday (April 15, 2017) peacefully in her home, after spending the last days with her loving family at her side.
She was born Nov. 5, 1924, in Gridley, to Elizabeth and Emil Grusy.
Genevieve’s life was committed to family and service, as well as enjoying friends and family over the years in her volunteering, bridge-playing, rooting-for-her-Chicago-Cubs-and-Bradley-Braves and selfless-caring for all.
She is survived by her two children, Thomas (Christina) and Lisa (Andrew) Remack; three grandchildren, Reid Thomas Henrichs (Rachel Greene), Roger Mitchell (Melissa) Henrichs and Ann Elizabeth Remack; two great-grandchildren; two stepdaughters and two step-grandchildren; along with loving siblings, Kathleen Kaufman, Marilyn Hany, Franklin Grusy and Burton Grusy; and other family members.
Genevieve was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Reid O. Henrichs; an infant daughter and infant grandson.
Genevieve was active over the years in various organizations, including Proctor Hospital Auxiliary (now UnityPoint Health-Proctor Gift Shop), where she volunteered over 20,000 hours, First United Methodist Church, Chicago Cubs Booster Club, bridge groups, Multiple Sclerosis and the Peoria Golf League.
The family thanks seven years of exceptional caregiving by Sharon Baer, whose dedicated service enhanced the quality of Genevieve’s life. During the last day of Genevieve’s life, UnityPoint Hospice Peoria provided exceptional care.
A private family memorial service with burial will follow in Gridley Cemetery.
