BLOOMINGTON — George Raymond Womack, 79, of 2602 Rainbow, Unit 4, Bloomington, died at 6:38 a.m. Tuesday (Nov. 22, 2005) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center, Normal.
His memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Bill Barton, the Rev. Dr. Jan Hazekamp and Brian Romanowski officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Smith Grove Cemetery, rural Towanda. The family will receive friends at a celebration of George's life beginning at 3 p.m. Saturday at North Bridge Baptist Church, Normal.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Bridge Baptist Church.
Mr. Womack was born Jan. 19, 1926, at Normal, the son of George Raymond and Zanna Trimmer Womack Sr. He married Ottilie Owen on Feb. 2, 1947, at Normal. She survives.
Also surviving is a daughter, Natalie Womack, Bloomington, and a son, George R. Womack, III, Terlingua, Texas.
His parents preceded him in death.
Mr. Womack was a 50 year member of Normal Lodge 673 A.F. & A.M. and a 50-year member of the Bloomington Scottish Rite Bodies.
He attended North Bridge Baptist Church, (formerly First Baptist Church of Normal). He had been an usher at the church for over 40 years, serving from 1956 to 2002.
Mr. Womack farmed in the Towanda area all of his lifetime, until retiring in 1988, and then moved to Bloomington in 1992.
Most people will remember George for his warm smile and the twinkle in his eyes. His family will remember him for his love, compassion and tender loving care.
