BLOOMINGTON — Geraldine F. “Gerry” Sievers, 88, of Luther Oaks, Bloomington, formerly of Gridley, passed away at noon Monday (April 24, 2017) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Apostolic Christian Church, Gridley, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will follow at Gridley Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Apostolic Christian Church Fellowship Hall, Gridley, and from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Friday at the church. Calvert-Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, El Paso, is assisting the family with services. Memorials may be made to El Paso-Gridley High School or the church.
Gerry was born April 9, 1929, in Gridley, the daughter of Harry and Emma Lutticken Yergler. She married Jack L. Sievers on June 11, 1950, in Chenoa. He died June 29, 2015.
Surviving are two children, Denise Danison, O’Fallon, Mo., and Kurt (Paula) Sievers, Bloomington; one grandson, Erik (Michelle) Danison, Maryland Heights, Mo.; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kinley; one sister, Eileen Roberts, Bloomington; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Armand, John, Edward Lewis “Knute,” Eugene and Glenn “Shorty” Yergler.
She was a member of Apostolic Christian Church, Gridley. She had worked as a nurse’s aide at Good Samaritan Home, Flanagan, and Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa.
