Geremy Edward Hamblin, 41, of Urbana, formerly of Downs, passed away at 11:20 a.m. Saturday (Sept. 9, 2017) at his home.
His funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Ellsworth United Methodist Church, 101 Main St., Ellsworth. Dave O’Neall and the Rev. Gifty Smith will officiate. Burial will be at Friends Cemetery, Bentown. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to his family, in care of his father, Gordon Hamblin, 307 N. Chestnut St., LeRoy, IL 61752. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Geremy was born May 11, 1976, in Normal, the son of Gordon Edward and Mari Michelle Keene Hamblin.
Surviving are his father, Gordon Edward Hamblin, LeRoy; mother, Mari Michelle Heidelberg, LeRoy; three sisters, Nicole Hamblin, Bloomington; Jocelyn (Mike) King, Towanda; and Abigail (Michael) Mullins, LeRoy; three brothers, Aaron (Iesha) Overholser, Arrowsmith; Aaron Heidelberg, Noblesville, Ind.; and Austin (Kelly) Hamblin, Monticello; grandparents, Pete and Shirley Heidelberg, Downs. Also surviving are Jeff Heidelberg, Downs; a niece, Teagyn Hamblin, LeRoy, whom he loved to tease; nephew, Connor Overholser, Arrowsmith; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends who loved him dearly.
Geremy was preceded in death by both his maternal grandparents, John and Beverly Keene, and paternal grandfather, Edward Hamblin.
Geremy graduated from Tri-Valley High School and attended Parkland Community College. He enjoyed fishing; his times at Lake Cumberland, Ky.; the St. Louis Cardinals; and he was an avid NASCAR fan. Geremy loved watching the Dallas Cowboys and the “Cowboy banter” he shared with his best friend Tyri.
Geremy left us too soon. We will miss “Geremy being Geremy.” We will love and miss you, always and forever. We know that Geremy is with his best friend, Shawn.
There will be a meal served at the church after the service at the cemetery.
