EUREKA Harold E. Wettstein, 77, of 718 S. Hilldale, Eureka, died at 10:45 a.m. Saturday (June 16, 2007) at his residence.

He was born on Jan. 23, 1930, in Eureka, a son to Charles and Martha Schurch Wettstein. He married Loretta Goldsmith on Dec. 27, 1953, in Metamora. She survives.

Also surviving are four daughters, Julia (Mark) Baier of Bloomington, Janet (Norm) Ulrich of Goodfield, and Janine (Kevin) Rocke and Jo Ellen (Todd) Martin, both of Eureka; two sons, Jacob (Mary) Wettstein of Eureka, and Jon (Rita) Wettstein of Bloomfield, Iowa; two brothers, Leslie (Susan) Wettstein of Roanoke, and Willis (Marilyn) Wettstein of Bloomington; two sisters, Lulu Zimmerman of Eureka, and Wilma (Les) Pulfer of Pekin; 23 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one infant daughter; three brothers, Joe, Bob, and Art; and two sisters, Cathryn and Rose.

A veteran, Harold served his country in the Air National Guard.

Harold farmed in the Eureka area all of his life. He was also a truck driver working for numerous local companies throughout his career.

He had been a member of the National Farmer's Organization.

Harold attended the Washington Apostolic Christian Church, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Apostolic Christian Fellowship Hall in Goodfield. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church. Burial will be in Olio Township Cemetery in Eureka. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is in charge of arrangements.
