CLINTON — Harriett Marie Larry, 85, of Clinton, formerly of Rock Island, died at 9:15 a.m. Friday (Dec. 16, 2005) at Hawthorne Inn in Clinton.
A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Clinton, the Rev. Fr. Don Roszkowski officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wapella.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert Funeral Home in Clinton.
She was born March 22, 1920 in Wapella, the daughter of Jay Larry and Katherine Ryan.
Survivors include one sister, Nelda DuPree, Clinton; one brother, James Larry, Farmer City; one sister-in-law, Dixie Larry, Pekin; nieces Leslie DuPree, Davenport, Iowa, Bobbye DePaul, Scottsdale, Ariz., and Janice Larry, Pekin; great-niece, Katherine Beydler, Davenport, Iowa; four great-nephews, Ben Beydler, Davenport, Iowa, and Justin, Jake and Nick DePaul, all of Scottsdale, Ariz.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Larry of Pekin and Jack Larry, who died in childhood.
After attending Yankeetown Grade School and Farmer City High School, she graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in Home Economics.
She worked in an aircraft manufacturing plant in Chicago during WWII. Miss Larry worked for Bear Manufacturing Co. of Rock Island for many years and was secretary to the company president, Victor B. Day. After his death, she acted as personal secretary to Mrs. Day. She also was employed by Iowa-Illinois Gas & Electric for several years after Bear Manufacturing closed. She was a member of several charitable and civic organizations in Rock Island and attended St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Rock Island.
