BLOOMINGTON - Harvey Bishop Lawton Jr., 76, of Bloomington died Friday (Dec. 2, 2005) at his residence.
A private family service will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to BroMenn Hospice in his memory. Kibler-Smith Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. Harvey was born Jan. 14, 1929, in Oak Park, the son of Harvey Bishop Lawton Sr. and Mildred H. Plath. He married Patricia Lee Doubler on Dec. 20, 1953, in Homewood.
Survivors include: a son, Harvey "Skip" Bishop (Stacy) Lawton III, of North Canton, Ohio; two daughters, Kim Currier of Annawan, and Becky Lawton of Bloomington; a brother, Jim (Carol) Lawton III, Oshkosh, Wis.; and his special friend, Lois Giles of Bloomington. He also is survived by many of his loving grandchildren: Stephanie, Sarah and Katie Lawton of North Canton, Ohio; Kristen, David and Keri Currier of Annawan; and Kyle Lawton of Bloomington.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Harvey was a proud graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University. He worked as a field representative for The Social Security Administration for 30 years. He enjoyed his favorite pastime of spending time with his beloved family, his Social Security Retirement Group, and his friends.
He also enjoyed his garden that his neighbor, Leslie, planted for him yearly. Harvey served in the U.S. Army from July 1946 until he was discharged in April 1949. Harvey was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
