EL PASO — Hazel E. Dunmire, 97, El Paso, passed away at 6:38 p.m. Friday (April 29, 2011) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
A private graveside service will be at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Cremation will be accorded. Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions may be made to El Paso Rescue Squad or a charity of the donor’s choice.
She was born Feb. 16, 1914, in Joliet, a daughter of William and Mary Leech Hynd. She married Richard L. Dunmire on Sept. 20, 1951, in Springfield. He passed away Jan. 8, 1994.
Survivors include one son, Dave (Cyndi) Dunmire, rural Carlock; and two granddaughters, Cristin (Dave) Weber, Bloomington, and Stacy (Aaron) Miller, Normal.
Hazel’s family moved to Bloomington, in 1924 when her father was transferred with the railroad. Hazel graduated from Bloomington High School and Brown’s Business College. She worked at State Farm Insurance Cos. and later at McLean County Bank prior to becoming a homemaker. She was an election judge, Cub Scout den mother and volunteer for various charities in El Paso. She was helpful and kind and will be missed by many.
