NORMAL — Hazel Mae Huette, 88, of Normal, peacefully went home to be with her Lord, surrounded by her family, at 4:50 p.m. Friday (April 21, 2017) at OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home, Peoria.
Her funeral will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Apostolic Christian Church of Bloomington-Normal, 4408 E. Raab Road, Towanda. Ministers of the church will officiate. Burial will be at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, both at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to Apostolic Christian Church of Bloomington-Normal. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Hazel was born Dec. 22, 1928, in Fairbury, the daughter of Louis and Sarah Zimmerman Koehl. She married Chris A. Huette on Oct. 26, 1947, in Fairbury. He passed away May 30, 1990.
Surviving are her five children, Greg Huette, West Virginia; Douglas L. (Melody) Huette, Tiffin, Iowa; Rick L. Huette, Normal; Susan L. (Timothy) Mikel, Bloomington; Robert M. (Helen) Huette, Villa Park; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one brother, Clyde (Jo) Koehl, Tarpon Springs, Fla.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents and seven brothers and sisters.
Hazel was a devoted member of the Apostolic Christian Church for over 70 years. Her faith was her foundation. She was an avid flower gardener. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was her greatest joy.
