PONTIAC — Helen L. Frye, 89, a resident of the Asta Care Center, Pontiac, since October 2002, died at 4:05 p.m. Sunday (May 1, 2011) at Asta Care.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church, with ministers of the church officiating. Burial will be at the South Apostolic Cemetery, rural Fairbury. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Thursday at the church. Memorials in Helen’s name may be left to Asta Care Center of Pontiac, Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Helen was born Nov. 29, 1921, in Cropsey, a daughter of Emil and Ida Steffen Bahler. She married William Frye on March 19, 1944, in Fairbury.
She is survived by two daughters, Kay E. Frye and Barbara (Randy) Cushing, both of Pontiac; one grandson, Michael (Heather) Cushing, Bloomington; two great-grandsons, Braxton and Briggs Cushing; three brothers, Marvin (Jane) Bahler, Ralph (Jeanette) Bahler and Arthur (Suzanne) Bahler; and one sister, Verla (Wayne) Davis, all of Fairbury.
Mrs. Frye graduated from Cropsey High School. She was employed at Pontiac National Bank as a teller from 1963 to 1986. She was affiliated with Fairbury Apostolic Christian Church, and was a former member of the Zonta Club and the Pontiac Women’s Club. Family was very important to Helen, and her family is sincerely grateful to Asta Care Center of Pontiac for the wonderful care of Helen over the years.
