BLOOMINGTON - Helen Lucille Hoye-Smith, 85, of 704 E. Oakland Ave., Bloomington, died at 2:20 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 29, 2005) at Manor Care Health Services in Normal.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Helen was born Aug. 29, 1920, in Heyworth, the daughter of Carl and Agnus Cummins Malinowski. They preceded her in death. She first married Ray Hoye. He died in 1974. She then married Ora Smith. He died in 1988.
Surviving are one daughter, Judy VanNote, Bloomington; two sons, Ray “Butch” (Thell) Hoye, Normal, and Danny (Sue) Hoye, Chestnut; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one brother, Merlin Malinowski, Bloomington; and one sister, Donna (Curt) Raydon, San Rayburn, Texas.
She was preceded in death by three children, two sisters and two brothers.
Helen was a cook and a waitress at the Grand Hotel, Wishing Well, Timmy's, Mr. T's and The Eagles Lodge.
She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 454, Bloomington, and the Moose Lodge Chapter 173.
She loved bowling, fishing and the St. Louis Cardinals.
