NORMAL J. Earl Rader, 98, of 1200 E. College Ave., Normal, died at 12:05 p.m. Saturday (April 1, 2006) at ManorCare Health Services, Normal.
A memorial service is being planned for April 15 at a location to be determined. Dr. Mark L. Hamner will officiate. There will be a private interment in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. There will be no visitation. Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to St. Luke Union Church or to Big Brothers and Big Sisters, Springfield.
Mr. Rader was born Jan. 17, 1908, in Normal to Rufus Kyle and Susanna Ramseyer Rader.
He married Marian L. Hastings on Nov. 9, 1935, in Bloomington. She survives.
Also surviving are a son, William K. (Nancy) Rader, Carlock; four grandchildren, Julie (Phil) Walker, Chicago; Dana (John) Howell, Downers Grove; Avery (Michael) Williams, Bensenville; and Devin (Kathleen) Rader, Plainsboro, N.J.; and two great-grandsons, Ryan and Brandon Howell.
His parents; a son, James K. Rader; four brothers; and three sisters preceded him in death.
He was an active member of St. Luke Union Church, Bloomington, where he was an elder, deacon and former trustee.
He was a graduate of Browns Business College in Bloomington.
Mr. Rader was a bookkeeper/salesman for the V.B. Robinson Seed Co. and later for Capen Insurance Agency in Bloomington, prior to retirement.
