MINIER —James David “J.D.” Brownfield, 37, of Minier, passed away Monday (Dec. 29, 2014) in rural Stanford.
J.D. was born June 2, 1977, in Peoria, to James H. Brownfield and Marsha K. Schmitgall. He married Emily R. Tjelle on March 13, 2010, in Dwight. She survives.
Also surviving are his parents of Minier; one son, James Samuel “Sam,” at home; one grandfather, James D. Brownfield, Wheatland, Mo.; father- and mother-in-law, Dennis and Margene Tjelle, Dwight; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Derek and Jeni Tjelle, Coal City; Lucas and Courtney Tjelle, Dwight; Jacob and Jenny Tjelle, Cabery; nieces and nephews, Alexis, Elizabeth, Olivia, Hayden, Mason, Oliver, Tre Bowman, Grace, Lila, Claire and Jack; uncle and aunt, Mike and Kate Schmitgall, Minier; cousins, Todd Schmitgall, Laura (Bill) Ludolph and Michele (Nate) Herrmann.
J.D. was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and paternal grandmother.
J.D. worked at State Farm Insurance Cos. in Bloomington in the bank collections department. He was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier and the Pi Pi Rho literary society.
His service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Minier. The Rev. Dwight Borden will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Haensel Funeral Home in Minier and one hour prior to the service at his church. Cremation rites will be accorded. Burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, Emily requests memorials be made to their son’s education fund.
