PONTIAC — Jerry David Schulz, 72, Pontiac, formerly of Leland, passed away Tuesday (June 4, 2013) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
He was born March 27, 1941, in Pontiac, the son of William Herman and Marie Theresa Schoop Schulz. He married Jeanne Hobart on Sept. 3, 1960, in Pontiac.
He was a member of the Sandwich Moose Lodge, Sandwich Veterans of Foreign Wars and Eagles Club of Eustis, Fla. Jerry enjoyed mowing, NASCAR racing and the company of good friends, but especially his family.
He is survived by his special friend, Janet Hurt, Pontiac, and her family; two daughters, Vonnie (Rick) Hayden, Locust Grove, Ga., and Becki (Jim) Castelli, Sheridan; eight grandchildren, Ashlie (Brian) Biles, Alexis Hayden, Mark (Jen) Hayden, Brooke (Tim) Paneitz, Bret (Chantal) Hayden, Jake Castelli, Justine Castelli and Joselynn Castelli; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Dort Jobst, and one brother, Ken Schulz, both of Pontiac; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jeanne; two sisters, Peg and Louise; and four brothers, Jim, Marshall, Don and Butch.
His memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home, Somonauk, with the Rev. Del Keilman officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of service at 3 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
