PONTIAC — John F. Amm, 90, of Pontiac, died at 11:55 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 25, 2015) at OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac, with the Revs. Frank R. Fisher Obl Osb and James O. Wolfe III officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born April 14, 1924, in Owego Township, son of Gustave Andrew and Matilda Kennedy Amm. He married Edna M. Hawes on Feb. 16, 1947, in Pennsylvania. She survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are sons, John F. (Ann Marie) Amm Jr., Valparaiso, Ind.; Brian E. (Jill D.) Amm, Pontiac; and Roger A. (Carol Sue) Amm, Ottawa; daughters, Marian E. Amm and Vivian K. (William O.) Bumpass, both of Pontiac; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenneth Amm; and one son, James Amm, in infancy.
He was a graduate of Pontiac Township High School, Class of 1942. He was a lifelong farmer in Owego Township.
He served in the U. S. Army from 1943 to 1946, earning a Bronze Star with Valor and French Legion of Honor. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Pontiac. He was a Owego Township trustee, and member of Livingston County Zoning Board, Pontiac Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Moose and American Legion.
