MINIER — John C. Lovins, 54, of Champaign, formerly of Minier, died Dec. 22, 2016, at his home.
John was born July 29, 1962, in Bloomington, to Larry and Fern I. Henderson Lovins.
Surviving are his mother, Fern Lovins, Minier; one brother, Curtis (Jennifer) Lovins, Mechanicsville, Va.; one sister, Jennifer Lovins, Normal; one nephew, Jacob Lovins; and one niece, Grace Lovins.
John was preceded in death by his father, Larry.

John was a beloved son and brother. He was a veteran of the Marine Corps and, after leaving the Marines, he worked for Gam Rad West in Garden Grove, Calif.; Wildwood Industries Inc.; Caterpillar’s Inbound Logistics Center, Bloomington; and Caterpillar Logistics Inc., Champaign. John enjoyed playing golf with family and friends, was an avid fisherman and a lifelong St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Cremation rites have been accorded. His service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hopedale. Msgr. Timothy Nolan will officiate. Burial will be at Minier Cemetery. Haensel Funeral Home in Minier is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the family to be given to a charity of their choosing.
