PONTIAC — Juanita Ferguson, 78, Pontiac, died at 10:20 a.m. Wednesday (May 18, 2011) at her daughter’s residence in Forrest, surrounded by her daughter and grandson.
Cremation rights have been accorded. A memorial service will be at noon Saturday at Martin Funeral Home in Pontiac, with the Rev. David Reynolds and the Rev. Debra Hoenegger of the Forrest United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in Sunnyslope Cemetery, Saunemin. A visitation will be from 10 until the hour of the memorial service Saturday at the funeral home.
Memorials in Juanita’s name may be made to OSF Hospice and Alzheimer’s Association.
Juanita was born Oct. 5, 1932, at Pontiac, a daughter of Owen Thompson and Goldie Pate Thompson. She married Raymond Ferguson in Pontiac on Jan. 1, 1949. He preceded her in death on Jan. 4, 2000.
She is survived by her two daughters, Debbie Ferguson, Princeton, and Sandra Kay (Tim) Osborne, Forrest; three sons, Donald Ray (Margie) Ferguson, Fairbury; David Alan Ferguson, Richmond, Calif.; and Lare’ E. Ferguson, Illinois; 20 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Betty (Roger) Gray, Pontiac, and Claudine Kwiatkowski, Tamaroa.
She was preceded by her parents and one sister, Helen; and one sister in infancy.
Juanita was educated in Pontiac schools. She was employed at Parkview Hospital in Plymouth, Ind., and private home health care. She was an avid bowler and liked to shop. She was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by her dog Baby and her family.
