BENSON — Julius F. Folkerts, 77, Benson, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2011) at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk. The Revs. Charles Buegel and Ed Sinclair will officiate. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Minonk and one hour before the service on Monday at the church. Burial will be in Minonk Township Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ or Benson Ambulance.
He was born on March 9, 1934, in Benson, a son of Julius B. and Marie deFreese Folkerts. He married Marjorie Knack on June 19, 1960, in Flanagan. She survives.
Also surviving are one son, Roger (Yvonne) Folkerts, Roanoke; one daughter, Dorinda Folkerts (Tim Wehrmann), Benson; two granddaughters, Nina and Kelli Folkerts; and one sister, Doris (Gerald) Rients, Flanagan.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Julius had worked as a farmer all of his life in the Benson area.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ in Minonk.
