Ken “Kenny” Caraker, 56, of Towanda, formerly of Manteno, left this world to be with the Lord and to fly with the angels Dec. 14, 2017, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.
Ken graduated from Manteno High School in 1979. The majority of his machining career was at Bloomington Tool & Engineering in Towanda. He was born Sept. 7, 1961, to Carl and Juanita Webb Caraker.
He was preceded in death his parents; grandparents; a brother, Daniel Gene Caraker; and a nephew, Clayton Patrick Caraker; and we cannot forget his best friend of 17 years, Pee Wee.
He is survived by two brothers, Steve (Pat) Caraker, Kankakee, and Tim (Theresa) Caraker, Bradley; one sister, Kate Demierre, Manteno; and several nieces and nephews. Ken also left behind his loving, caring significant other of 24 years, Dee Dawson, Gridley; two daughters he called his own, Stacy (Scott) Phelps, Bloomington, and Tonya Dawson, Bloomington; three grandchildren, Randi Dawson and Michael Dawson, El Paso, and Tyler Dawson, Bloomington; two great-grandchildren, Jaiden and Aleah Dawson, El Paso.
He was a member of Blooming Grove Baptist Church of McLeansboro. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. Friday until the service at 8 p.m. at Brown-Jensen Funeral Home, Manteno. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Blooming Grove Cemetery, McLeansboro.
With tears and sorrow we will cry each day. In angels' arms, he was carried away, our memories of love and laughter shall not fade away, for inside our hearts he will always stay.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made toward his great-grandchildren's education.
