BLOOMINGTON - Kenneth Metcalf, 81, of 2806 Capen Drive, Bloomington, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 11, 2006) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Cremation will be accorded. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. today at St. Luke Union Church with the Rev. Mark Hamner and the Rev. Beth Wagner officiating. Friends will greet the family today one hour before the memorial service. East Lawn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Luke Union Church.
Kenneth was born Sept. 7, 1924, in Norton, Kan., a son of Lawrence J. and Lenore Helsper Metcalf. They preceded him in death. He married Dorothy Schafer on June 9, 1946. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Larry Metcalf, Gainesville, Ga.; Thomas Metcalf, Birmingham, Ala.; Johnathan Metcalf, Red Lodge, Mont.; and Phillip Metcalf, Glendale, Ore.; grandchildren, Laura Buff and Sara Hutchins, both of Columbia, S.C.; Sierra, Marshall and Tyler Metcalf, all of Red Lodge, Mont.; and Mariah Metcalf of Colorado; and two great-grandchildren.
Kenneth retired from Continental Grain Co. in 1985. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, where he served during World War II.
Kenneth was an active church member. He also enjoyed woodworking and gardening.
