HEYWORTH - LaVerne Lee Rust, 79, rural Heyworth, died at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday (Nov. 8, 2006) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church of Heyworth, with the Rev. Rebecca Lembke officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Township Memorial Cemetery, Heyworth. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to The Baby Fold, Normal, or the United Methodist Church of Heyworth.
She was born Sept. 4, 1927, at Bloomington, daughter of Joseph and Lois Moehn Becker. She married Donald B. Rust on Oct. 10, 1947, at Atlanta. He died July 21, 2002.
Surviving are a daughter, Lee Ann (Larry) Coleman, Heyworth; and a grandson, Matthew B. Coleman, Heyworth.
Her parents preceded her in death.
Mrs. Rust was a member of the United Methodist Church of Heyworth, where she was a member of United Methodist Women. She was also a member of ABWA Bloomington Chapter, Federated Women's Club in Heyworth, Night Owls Home Extension Unit, Twin City Prime Timers, American Association of Retired Teachers and the American Sewing Guild.
She had earned her master's in education from Illinois State Normal University. LaVerne began teaching at the Pleasant Valley one-room school west of Randolph. She later taught for Unit District 4 at Ben Funk School for 19 years and was currently working for Illinois Graphics in Bloomington.
