LaVerne R. Oyer, 83, of Pontiac, died 8:25 a.m. Monday (Dec. 11, 2017) at Good Samaritan Home, Pontiac.
His funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac, with Andy Diestelkamp of Pontiac Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in South Side Cemetery, Pontiac. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials in LaVerne’s name may be made to Good Samaritan Home, Pontiac, or Livingston County Cancer Fund.
LaVerne was born July 17, 1934, in Pike Township, in the same house where his dad was born, a son of Clarence and Alma Egle Oyer. He married Mary Patsy Rainwaters on May 2, 1970, in Cullom. She survives in Pontiac.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lisa (Jason) Hos, Aurora; one grandson, Connor Hos; one brother, Clarence Oyer, Heyworth; two sisters, Romeyn Oyer, Bloomington, and Joyce (Bob) Frey, Archbald, Ohio; several nieces and nephews, including Joanna (Doug Valverde) Oyer.
LaVerne was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Bernard Oyer.
LaVerne worked in graphic arts for Original Smith Printing in Bloomington. He was a former member of Meadows Mennonite Church and more recently a member of Pontiac Church of Christ.
