CROPSEY — Lawrence R. Ward, 89, of Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa, formerly of Cropsey, died at 10:08 a.m. Wednesday (Dec. 7, 2005) at Meadows Mennonite Home.

His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Duffy-Pils Memorial Home, Fairbury, with Pastor Jim Lembke officiating. Burial will be in Cropsey Cemetery, Cropsey. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at the memorial home.

Memorials may be made to United Methodist Church of Cropsey or Meadows Mennonite Home.

He was born Jan. 4, 1916, at Cropsey, a son of Charles Ray and Ruby B. Alford Ward. He married Mary Josephine Tipple on July 10, 1943, at McLean. She died June 10, 2004.

Surviving are three daughters, Jean (Bill) Shadid, Germantown, Wis.; Elizabeth (Duane) Frobish, Pontiac; and Kathy (Ken) Armstrong, Chenoa; two sons, Larry (Sharon) Ward, Bloomington, and Michael Ward, Downers Grove; one brother, Edward Ward, Cropsey; two sisters, Irene Sweet and Eleanor Branz, both of Fairbury; six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

His parents preceded him in death.

He was a farmer. He retired in 1988.

He was a member of United Methodist Church of Cropsey.
