DWIGHT - Surrounded by her family, Leah Niemeyer, entered Heaven's gates.Suffering from a lengthy illness, Mrs. Niemeyer departed on Monday (Feb. 6, 2006) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Dwight.
Final good-byes will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Friday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dwight. Pastor Daniel Ognoskie will conduct the service at 3 p.m., followed by a family graveside service at Goodfarm Cemetery, rural Dwight.
Mrs. Niemeyer was born Jan. 16, 1932, in Fairbury, a daughter of Wilbur and Sarah Mardelle Hildreth. She married Howard L. Niemeyer on Sept. 8, 1956, in Chester.
She retired in 1984 after working for many years as the laundry manager at Heritage Manor in Dwight. She was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Dwight.
She is survived by her daughters, Susan (Cris) Lehman, Dwight; Christine (Tim) Metcalf, Kankakee; Doris (Randy) Fearman, Odell; Mary (Andrew “Lee”) Anderson, Dwight; and Janice (Tom) Emm, Ransom; grandchildren, Tim, Jamie and Wesley Lehman; Justin (Christine) Anderson; Cameron Anderson; Matthew and Alaina Metcalf; Kendra Niemeyer; and Annaleah Emm; stepgrandchildren, Brian, Emily and Joey Fearman and Matthew Lehman; stepgreat-grandson, William Lehman; sisters, Frances Ziegenhorn, Fairbury, and Betty Albers, San Luis Obispo, Calif.; brother, John (Karen) Hildreth, Fairbury; and brother-in-law, William Dennewitz, Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Pallbearers will be Andrew “Lee” Anderson, Justin Anderson, Cris Lehman, Randy Fearman, Tim Metcalf and Tom Emm.
Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren. She was a loving, caring woman who will be greatly missed and forever in the hearts of all those who knew her.
Memorials should be directed to the Resident Activity Fund at Heritage Manor, Dwight, or to her church. Hagi Funeral Home, Streator, is in charge of arrangements.
