GRAYMONT — Lois Elaine Yordy, 89, of Graymont, went to be with her Savior at 11:25 a.m. Thursday (Feb. 13, 2014) at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community, Chenoa.
Lois was born March 4, 1924, on the family farm south of Graymont, the second child of Nyle and Iva McCormick Bertsche.
She married Clair Yordy on Nov. 21, 1945. He died Feb. 14, 1994.
She is survived by her sons, Gary (Sharl) Yordy, Anthem, Ariz., and Jeff (Jeannie) Yordy, North Palm Beach, Fla. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Eric (Dina) Yordy, Matt Yordy, Heather Yordy and Kimberly (Adam) Perez; six great-grandchildren, Jack Yordy, Joe Yordy, Josh Yordy, Caleb Yordy, Alyssa and Victoria Perez; a sister, Ruth Blumershine, Albuquerque, N.M.; and sisters-in-law, Marge Bertsche, Pontiac; Marjorie Bertsche, Meadows; and Marilyn Yordy, Flanagan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and a sister.
Upon graduating from Flanagan High School, Lois went to work at State Farm Insurance Cos. in Bloomington. After their marriage, Clair and Lois operated a farm south of Graymont for many years before retiring to Meadows. In addition to helping her husband operate the farm, Lois was very active in her church and numerous community volunteer organizations.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Calvert- Johnson & Froelich Memorial Home, Flanagan, with the Rev. Jane Roeschley officiating. Burial will follow at Waldo Township Cemetery, rural Gridley. Visitation will be one hour before the service Tuesday at the memorial home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community.
The family members would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of Meadows Retirement Community for the love, kindness and superb care Lois received during her 10-year stay.
