LeROY — Loren Gene Hamblin, 84, LeRoy, passed away at 7:30 p.m. Monday (Jan. 16, 2012) at LeRoy Manor, LeRoy.
His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Calvert-Belangee-Bruce Funeral Home, LeRoy. The Rev. Mike Bailey will officiate. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington, with military rites accorded. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the LeRoy Emergency Ambulance Service.
Mr. Hamblin was born June 1, 1927, in Stanford, son of George and Verl Wirrick Hamblin. He married Gweneth M. Bailey on Sept. 9, 1949, in LeRoy. She survives in LeRoy.
Also surviving are two sons, Gregory L. (Jocelyn) Hamblin, Irvine, Calif., and Gary E. (Nancy) Hamblin, Bloomington; one daughter, Kathy M. Whorrall, LeRoy; four grandchildren, Jaren and Joshua Hamblin, Megan (James) Hershbarger and Katie Fredericks; one great-grandson, Lucas Hershbarger; one brother, Gerald Hamblin, Bloomington; and two sisters, Doris Forbes, Columbia, Mo., and Margie (Dale) Wade, Maroa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers.
Gene was a Korean conflict veteran and served in Korea and Germany.
Gene was a carpenter with Local 63, Bloomington. He was a member of Ruel Neal American Legion Post 79, LeRoy.
