MORTON - Lorna C. Durflinger, 88, of 935 E. Jefferson St., Morton, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday (Dec. 28, 2005) at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
She was born May 25, 1917, in El Paso, to Adolph and Alma Heseman Rippel. She married Floyd E. Durflinger on June 3, 1945, in Roanoke. He preceded her in death Nov. 22, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and one granddaughter, Elizabeth Ann.
Surviving are two sons, Norman (Cathy) Durflinger, Morton, and Dennis (Evelyn) Durflinger, Rosenberg, Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A school teacher for 54 years, she taught in Bloomington for 41 years until her retirement in 1985. She later taught school in Yuma, Ariz.
She was a member of Advent Lutheran Church in Morton. She was a former member of Christ Lutheran Church in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Advent Lutheran Church, Morton, with the Rev. Barb Ziah officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home, Morton, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Advent Lutheran Church, the Morton Community Foundation or WeCare Inc., all in Morton, and the American Cancer Society in Peoria.
