NORMAL - Lyle Gene Kistner, 78, of Normal died at 2 p.m. Wednesday (Nov. 30, 2005) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center.
His graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cemetery, Bloomington, the Rev. Scott Sherwood, the Rev. Mike Oleniczak and the Rev. Joe Dunlap officiating. There will be no visitation.
Immediately following the burial, a gathering will be held at First Church of the Nazarene in Bloomington. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Cancer Center, Normal.
He was born July 25, 1927 in Normal, the son of Frank L. and Annette Belle Burns Kistner. He married Lois Dunlap on Sept. 20, 1950. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, David (Molly) Kistner, Bloomington and Larry (Cindy) Kistner, Colfax; six grandchildren, Travis (Calli) Kistner, Danvers, and Michael, Annie, Kelli, Teri and Justin; and four great-grandchildren, Parker, Charlie, Logan and Maddux.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Elmo, Loren and Pat, one sister, Martha and one granddaughter, Aimee.
Mr. Kistner was a 1946 graduate of Trinity High School and was a Korean veteran, serving in the Army Corps of Engineers. He was a printer for 43 years, working for Gummerman's, Lang-Fuller and The Pantagraph. He was active in the Cornbelt Postcard Club with his grandchildren Michael and Annie and was a member of the McLean County Genealogical Society.
Mr. Kistner was an avid collector and attended many garage sales. He enjoyed gardening and fishing. He loved his children and grandchildren and was quite a family man.
