NORMAL - M. LaVerne Sutter, 91, of 1004 N. Linden St., Normal, died at 6:15 a.m. Monday (Nov. 13, 2006) at BroMenn Regional Medical Center in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Francis Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of the donor's choice.
LaVerne was born Aug. 16, 1915, in Arrowsmith, the daughter of Lester Allen and Lula Pina Mullins Wheeler. She married Anthony A. "Tony" Sutter on Jan. 19, 1937, in Bloomington. He died on July 18, 1992.
Survivors include four sons, Darrell Sutter, Normal; Vernon Sutter, Phoenix, Ariz.; Floyd Sutter, Bloomington; and Steven (Wanda) Sutter, Hudson; three daughters, Julia (Bill) Gunderson, Peru, Ind.; Kay (Richard) Riehl, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Nancy (Bob) Daniels, Normal; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wayne (Theresa) Wheeler, Indianapolis, Ind.; three sisters, Lucille Broderick and Charlene (Harry) Miller, both of Bloomington; and Ila Granacher, Normal; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Wheeler, Palatine.
She was preceded in death by one great-grandchild; two sisters; and six brothers,
LaVerne and her husband, Tony, farmed in the Colfax area for 35 years. She was a member of Epiphany Church, Normal, and the Red Hat Society. LaVerne was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flowers.
