HOPEDALE - Margaret Marie Ahten, 58, of 5717 Townhall Road, passed away at 3:55 a.m. Friday (Dec. 30, 2005) at Sharon Elms Health Care in Peoria.
Born June 7, 1947, in Peoria, she was the daughter of Wilmer D. and Elaine H. Groenhagen Spracklen. She married Kenneth William Ahten Sr. on July 2, 1967, in Pekin. He survives.
Also surviving are her mother, Elaine H. Spracklen of Pekin; one daughter, Elaine M. Ahten of Pekin; one son, Kenneth W. Ahten Jr. of Hopedale; four brothers, James C. (Audrey) Spracklen of Pekin; William Fuller and Gerald Herring, both of Williamsfield; and Charles Herring of Peoria; and three sisters, Patricia Terrell, Marilyn Herring and Linda (Robert) Welcome, all of Peoria.
Her father, three brothers, and one sister preceded her in death.
A homemaker, Margaret had worked at Hopedale Medical Complex in the dietary department for several years.
She was a member of Bethel Mennonite Church in rural Pekin, where she had volunteered in the church kitchen and was a member of the Dorcas Society.
Margaret enjoyed canning, playing the piano, gardening, quilting, crocheting and doing needlepoint. She made various items and donated them to the annual Mennonite Relief Sale.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel. The Rev. Ralph E. Ogden will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens, Pekin.
