NORMAL - Marie H. Slowiak, 93, of 1611 Baumgart Drive, Normal, died at 9:40 a.m. Tuesday (Feb. 21, 2006) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Bloomington.
Her funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, and at 10 a.m. at Epiphany Church, Normal, with the Rev. Francis Gallagher officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with a prayer service at 7 p.m.
She was born Feb. 2, 1913, in Poland, the daughter of John and Bernice Lech Szerlak. She married Anton J. Slowiak on May 8, 1943, in Chicago. He died June 19, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Claudia (Bill) Striegel, Normal, and Pat (Rich) Dobos, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; six grandchildren, Jon and Eric Striegel; Brian (Heidi) Dobos; and Beth, Brad and Barrett Dobos; and four great-grandchildren, Brett, Sarah, Jared and Leah Dobos.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Marie was a keypunch operator for Bunker Ramo Corp. in Chicago for many years before her retirement. She was a loving person who enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was especially fond of the family's chocolate lab, Bailey.
