BLOOMINGTON — Marilyn Jane Layten, 91, of Bloomington, passed away at 3:59 a.m. Wednesday (April 5, 2017) at Sugar Creek Alzheimer’s Special Care Center, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary’ s Catholic Church, Downs, with the Rev. Dustin Schultz officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington.

Marilyn was born July 29, 1925, in Downs, the daughter of Harold and Anna Ryan Roberts. She married Lawrence E. Layten on Jan. 25, 1947, in Downs. He survives.
She also is survived by a son, Dale (Karen) Layten, Bloomington; a brother, James Roberts, Jackson, Mich.; three sisters, Alyse "Toots" Roberts, Bloomington; Jackie Hoover, McHenry; and Judy Busey, Mahomet.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Jerry Lee Layten; a brother, Harold L. "Bud" Roberts; a sister, Dwyn Harris; brothers-in-law, Kent Harris and Dick Hoover; and a sister-in-law, Maureen Roberts.
Marilyn was a 1944 graduate of Downs High School, enjoyed dancing and was a good pool player. Marilyn was a true farm wife and always enjoyed helping her husband around the farm.
