FLANAGAN - Marlene M. Weichman, 71, Amboy, died Sunday (June 3, 2007) and entered into eternal rest after a long battle with cancer.
She graduated from Mennonite Nursing School in 1958 and worked in several areas of nursing, including surgery, ER and clinical practice. She had also been an Avon dealer for 25 years.
She was born May 15, 1936, in Flanagan, a daughter of John and Anna Baumann Abels. She married Richard Weichman on Nov. 12, 1958, in Flanagan. He preceded her in death April 9, 1990.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy and served on the Altar Guild. She was also active with the choir and the youth. She was an avid Clipper fan and supported all youth activities in the community. She shared her love of baking homemade bread with everyone she touched.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Norma Saxton.
Survivors include a son, Kevin Weichman, St. Louis, Mo.; daughters, Kim (Mark) Becker and Karol (Tom) Harrison, both of Amboy; grandchildren, Talon and Aubrey Becker and Ebony and Tyler Harrison, all of Amboy, who were very special in her life; brother, Merlin Abels, Flanagan; and sisters, Corinne Mundschenk and Elaine Rients, both of Flanagan; and Phyllis Mullen, Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Amboy, with the Rev. Christine Stienstra, Pastor Vicki Sauter and the Rev. James R. Schack of St. Louis co-officiating. Burial will follow in Prairie Repose Cemetery, Amboy.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Mihm-Jones Funeral Home in Amboy and from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday in the church. A memorial has been established. Condolences may be sent at www.thejonesfh.com .
