NORMAL - Marna J. Swanson, 80, of 509 N. Adelaide St., Normal, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday (Aug. 9, 2006) at Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Normal.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church, Bloomington, with the Rev. Spencer Gillespie officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Bloomington.
Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
She was born July 23, 1926, at Pleasant Hill, a daughter of Ray and Beulah Kinkade Johnson. She married Daniel G. Swanson Sr. on Aug. 14, 1947, at Pleasant Hill. He died Nov. 13, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters, Nannette (Nobu) Tanaka, Bloomington, and Jevannah (Eric) Antila, Henderson, Nev.; one son, Dan Swanson Jr., Westford, Mass.; one sister, Kathi Fiala, Springfield, Mo.; and seven grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
She was a member of First Baptist Church, Bloomington.
Marna had graduated from Western Illinois University, Macomb. She had taught high school and was a substitute teacher, secretary and homemaker. Marna enjoyed antiques, gardening and bridge. She was a member of the PEO Chapter FM. She was chairperson of the kitchen committee at her church for many years. Marna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be missed by all.
