PONTIAC - Martha DeYoung, 93, of Pontiac, died at 11:05 a.m. Wednesday (Feb. 8, 2006) at ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.
Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from Grace Episcopal Church in Pontiac, Pastor Carolyn Bavrara officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Saturday till the time of service at the church. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Pontiac. Duffy Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Grace Episcopal Church, Pontiac, or ASTA Care Center of Pontiac.
She was born June 19, 1912, in Swygert, to William and Anna Reinhardt Dunki. She married Bert Ellis in Pontiac in June of 1933. They later divorced. He died in 1977. Later, she married Thomas A. DeYoung July 3, 1955, in Pontiac. He died in 1971.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon R. (Jim) Stahler, Odell, and Beverly A. Wiegand, Morton; two stepsons, Thomas (Marilyn) DeYoung of Arizona and Richard DeYoung, Rowe; one brother, Albert Dunki of Ordway, Colo.; 14 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Pontiac.
She was a quality control inspector for Pontiac Chair for 15 years, she also worked at the Fashionbilt Shoe Company as a fancy stitcher for 18 years. She was a long time volunteer for ASTA Care Center of Pontiac and OSF Saint James-John W. Albrecht Medical Center, Pontiac. She attended Swygert Grade School and graduated from Pontiac High School.
Some of Martha's favorite activities were sewing, china painting, crocheting, and cross-stitching.
