BLOOMINGTON - Mary Ellen Katthoefer, 85, of 2650 N. Monroe, Decatur, formerly of Bloomington, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday (Nov. 28, 2006) at Lincoln Manor in Decatur.
She was born June 8, 1921, in Fairfield, a daughter of Thomas Joshua and Minnie Myrtle Secrest Graham. She married William Katthoefer on March 16, 1940, in St. Charles, Mo.
He preceded her in death Aug. 7, 2002, in Bloomington. She was also preceded by her parents, four brothers, and one son-in-law, John Justice.
Mary is survived by one son, William (Cynthia) Katthoefer Jr., Arkdale, Wis.; two daughters, Carolyn Justice, Decatur, and Krystal (Michael) Donovan, Bloomington; one brother, Donald Graham, Normal; five grandchildren, Terri Caldwell, Tim Justice, Guy Lee Katthoefer, Leann Harris and Michael Donovan; six great-grandchildren, Jack Toca, Kathryn Nihiser, Heather Nihiser, Lindsey Nihiser, Brandon Justice and Christina Justice; and one great-great-grandson, Christopher Toca.
She had retired from working at Eureka Co. after 16 years.
Mary was a life member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary and the Oreana Christian Church.
Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. The Rev. Phil Hansen will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Memorials may be made to her church or the American Cancer Society.
