PONTIAC — Mary Monica Mackinson, 83, Pontiac, noon Tuesday (May 24, 2011) at Asta Care Center of Pontiac.
Her funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Catholic Church, Odell. Monsignor Bill Watson will officiate, and Father Peter Pilon will concelebrate. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Pontiac.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, with the rosary recited at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the church.
Duffy-Baier-Snedecor Funeral Home, Pontiac, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul Catholic Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
She was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Streator, daughter of John P. and Florence M. Cundy Keating.
She married Raymond M. Mackinson on June 10, 1950, at Immaculate Conception Church in Streator. He passed away Dec. 8, 2007.
She is survived by her sons, John (Kathleen) Mackinson, Morris; Kevin (Sharon) Mackinson, Donald (Rita) Mackinson, Martin (Susan) Mackinson and Roy Mackinson, all of Pontiac; daughter, Kristine (Rick) Haag, Cullom; grandchildren, John, Kim, Jason, Amy, Andrew, Patricia, Brian, Scott, Todd, Angela, Adam, Sara, Mary, Matt, David, Jesse, Abby, Daniel, Rayme, Sam and Loni; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and spouse.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church, Odell.
Monica had helped with the family farm and worked at Mackinson Implement in Odell for 53 years.
She was a past regent of St. Paul Catholic Daughters, past president of Altar and Rosary Society, served on St. Paul Church finance board, member of Circle 3, past chairwomen of the Annual Diocesan Appeal, she was a Eucharistic minister and a member of St. Paul Family Society. Monica also received the 1998 Pierre Marquette Diocesan Award.
Monica loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. She supported the sports booster clubs and was awarded the Pontiac Holiday Tournament Fan Appreciation Award in 2003.
She was active with the Livingston County 4-H for many years.
She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Grade School, Streator, and was a graduate of Streator High School, class of 1945.
