MONTGOMERY — Mary Wilda Starks, 82, Montgomery, and formerly of Verona, died Monday (May 16, 2011) at Jennings Terrace, Aurora.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Hager Memorial Home, Dwight.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dwight, with Father Lee Ryan and Father James Rickey officiating. Burial will be in Ward Cemetery, Mazon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Vitas Hospice, 580 Waters Edge, Suite 100, Lombard, IL 60148; or Jennings Terrace, 275 LaSalle St., Aurora, IL 60505.
Wilda was born Aug. 7, 1928, in Streator, the daughter of William and Mary Angela Carney Weir. She married Charles Richard Starks on March 17, 1948, in Kinsman. He survives in Montgomery.
Also surviving are her daughter, Barbara Lynn (Mike) Thornton, Montgomery; son, Thomas William (Denise Linn) Starks, Eau Claire, Wis.; sister, Anna Marie Uhren, Streator; grandchildren, Charles Warner, Jennifer Johnson, Christy Starks and Tom Starks Jr.; great-grandchildren, Abigail Johnson, McKinley Warner, Meredith Warner and Madden Warner; and niece, Patricia Pfeifer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Angela Weir; and sister, Helen Ely.
Wilda was a graduate of MVK High School, Mazon.
She enjoyed reading, flower gardening, walking and talking each day to her sisters.
