LEXINGTON — Michael C. Jones, 76, of Lexington, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday (April 23, 2017) at Meadows Mennonite Home, Chenoa.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be at a later date. Calvert-Johnson & Musselman Memorial Home, Lexington, is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Lexington Ambulance Memorial Fund.
Mike was born June 5, 1940, in Bloomington, the son of Charles and Bernadine Wright Jones. He married Toni Amdor on Sept. 14, 1963, in Bloomington. She survives along with four children, Carla (Jeff) Thomas, Lexington; Paula (Kris) McCorkle, Morrison, Tenn.; Teri (Lyn) Lype and Craig (Dennise) Jones, both of Lexington; one sister, Dianne (Terry) Stewart, Bloomington; and 11 grandchildren, Trevor and Evan Thomas; Katie and Mitchell McCorkle; Kelsie and Carlee Lype; Libby Hunt; and Jayden, Craighton, Landon and Hunter Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Jones and Bernadine Jones Mitchell, and two sisters.
Mike graduated from Bloomington High School in 1958 and then served four years in the U.S. Navy. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office in Bloomington and retired after 25 years. He then opened the Jones Sports Card Shop in Lexington for 10 years. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Michael was a loving husband, dad, brother and grandpa who enjoyed spending time with his family at Lake Sara in Effingham.
