HUDSON - Michael James McGuire, 54, of Lake Bloomington-Hudson passed away at 2:50 p.m. Thursday (May 28, 2009) at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Michael was born Nov. 5, 1954, in Bloomington, the son of James and Marietta Mielenz McGuire. He married Deborah Lynn Roche on April 16, 1994, in Bloomington.
He attended Normal Community High School and served his country in the Army. He enjoyed a long career as a police officer working with the Clinton Police Department for three years before becoming a patrolman for the McLean County Sherriff's Department for 26 years, from which he retired in 2004. Michael enjoyed cooking out, movies and spending time with his family. He was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan as well as a Chicago Bears fan.
Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie McGuire; his son, Patrick (Cara) McGuire; his sister, Vali (David) Shiers; his brother, Rory (Mary Ann) McGuire; two grandchildren, Hailey and Tyler McGuire; nieces, Theresa (Brian) Shiers, Bridget McGuire, Heather (Pete) Pintz and Laura Boma; his great-nieces, Sydney Chasten, Jamieson Badgley and Taylor Mills; nephews, Nathan (Tecia) Mills and Matthew Mills; his sister-in-law, Karen Mills; two brothers-in-law, John Mills and Jackie Roche; and his dog, Duncan.
His funeral will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at East Lawn Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will take place immediately following at Hinthorne Cemetery in Lake Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to the McLean County Sherriff's Department in memory of Michael McGuire or Renal Care, Dr, Gordon W. James and staff in Bloomington.
