Michael P. Murphy, 64, of Bloomington, passed away at 3 p.m. Thursday (June 7, 2018) at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.
He was born April 6, 1954, in Normal, a son of Jack Murphy and Beverly Gibson Murphy. He married Janice L. Stahl on Sept. 10, 2010.
Michael Murphy is survived by his wife, Janice Murphy; his father, Jack (Peggy) Murphy, Las Vegas, Nev.; sister, Cheryl (Chuck) King, Atlanta; two stepsons, Luke (Carrie) Lawrence, Bloomington; Matt (Melissa) Lawrence, Danvers; mother-in-law, Ann Schultz, Bloomington; brother-in-law, Steve (Lisa) Stahl, Bloomington; sister-in-law, Candice Stahl, Novato, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Beverly, and his sister, Kim.
Mike worked at D & L Smith Construction as a welder. He was a caring, tenderhearted man, always putting others first. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. He was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Normal.
The family wants to express gratitude for the many acts of kindness and understanding from his doctors and staff at St. Joseph Medical Center.
The funeral will be at noon Wednesday with visitation one hour prior at Eastview Christian Church, Normal. Pastor Jim Probst will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial box will be at the Eastview service.
