BLOOMINGTON - Mildred B. Clarke, 89, of 2 Crestview Court, LeRoy, formerly of Bloomington, died at 5:45 a.m. Monday (Feb. 20, 2006) at ManorCare Health Services in Normal.
Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Thomas Wirsing officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington or to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are being handled by Calvert & Metzler Memorial Home, Bloomington.
She was born April 22, 1916, in Covell, a daughter of Robert and Augusta Rettke Runge. She married Byron William Clarke on Jan. 2, 1937, in Bloomington. He died in March 1969.
Surviving are one daughter, Joyce (John) Moyer, LeRoy; one sister, Eldora (Walt) Winter, San Diego, Calif.; one daughter-in-law, Nancy Clarke, Pontiac; four grandchildren, Randy Clarke, Chandler, Ariz.; Kristyn (Jim) Fairfield, Normal; Kimberly (Jeff) Harbison and Brian Moyer, both of LeRoy; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Roger Clarke; four brothers; and one sister.
She was affiliated with Trinity Lutheran Church, Bloomington.
She and her husband had farmed in the Heyworth area for a number of years. She was a cook at Ben Funk School in Shirley. Mildred was a member of the Bloomington Women's Bowling Association for more than 30 years and was inducted into the Bloomington Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1993. She formerly worked at Montgomery Ward in Bloomington.
