EUREKA — Milton Richard Leman, 97, of Eureka, went to be with the Lord at 2:04 p.m. on Easter Sunday (April 16, 2017) at the Apostolic Christian Home, Eureka.
He was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Metamora, a son of Alpheus and Lena Sauder Leman. He married Caroline Farney on Dec. 14, 1941, in Cissna Park. She passed away on July 20, 1994. He later married Geraldine Plattner Laukhuf on Jan. 8, 1997. She passed away on June 29, 2011.
Milton is survived by three sons, Robert (Dee) Leman, Germantown Hills; Terry (Shirley) Leman, Secor; and Larry (Marilyn) Leman, Eureka; one son-in-law, Craig Johns, Woodland Hills, Calif.; stepchildren, Dan (Jayne) Plattner and Sam (Pat) Plattner; 11 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; one brother, Roy (Wanda) Leman; two sisters, Marge (Rich) Rocke and Carolee Unsicker; sister-in-law, Nora Leman; and many stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Shirley Johns; four brothers, Walter, Ivan, Loren and Gerald; and one great-granddaughter, Alayna Gerst.
He was a lifelong farmer in the Secor area, serving many years on the Secor Elevator Board, and had served as a World War II Army medic in the Normandy Invasion and European Theater.
Milton was a member of the Eureka Apostolic Christian Church where his funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday. Church ministers will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home, El Paso, and from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial with military rites at the grave will be in Roanoke Apostolic Christian Cemetery. Argo-Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in Eureka is assisting the family with arrangements.
